How to Do One Arm Push Up?

Push up workout is one of the most popular workout. In many sports push up workout has always been the main exercise menu. But, if you often doing routine push up, you will feel so bored, because doing push up looks too monotonous. So, you should expand you workout variations: One hand push up. 

One hand push up is one of the variation push up workout. So, I try to develop one hand push up workout. One hand push up workout is rahter difficult, because it's hard to be done. Your body must balance and you must have strong palm to resist your entire body. So, you must routine workout to do this workout. 

For the first time, I cannot do one hand push up. But, fortunately I can do one hand push up correctly right now. In this post, I want to share about how I do one hand push ups correctly. Check my video below. 


If you trying to develop push ups variations, try this workout. I have some tips for you to do one hand push ups correctly. See on my advice below. 

1. You must doing standard push up for the first time

Don't to force doing one hand push up if you cannot doing standard push up. Or, you just can doing 10 reps for standard push up in one set. So, don't hope too much you can doing one hand push ups in many reps. One hand push up means you just using your one hand to push and resist your body. So, if you want to do one hand push ups, the first step is you must doing standard push ups continously, till you really doing push ups correctly and doing in many reps.   

2. Increase your push ups ability

If you can doing standard push up correctly, you must increase your repetitions. For example, if you can doing 25 reps push ups, you can try more reps (35-40 reps, and then try to do 45 reps and so on). It will be strenghten your muscle, your palm, your muscle and your endurance. The main point is, do reguler push ups continously until push up became your habitual.   

3. Began to try one hand assisted push ups

After you can do standard push ups well, try to begin doing one hand assisted push ups. You can use equipment in your room. For example, you can used small chair, book or another equipment that make you comfort. One hand assisted push ups means doing one arm push ups while another hand hold chair, book or anothers. 

Before doing one arm push ups perfectly, you must use "assisted". Why? Because if you doing one arm push ups directly, I think it's still too difficult even if you've been able to do standard push ups correctly. So, you must try one arm assisted push ups. Don't forget to watch your push ups progression. Noted your progression and motivated yourself. I you want to see one arm assisted push ups, you can see image below. 










4. Now, began to try one hand push ups


If you can doing one arm push assisted push ups, now you can begin trying one arm push ups (without assisted). For the first time, maybe it's look difficult, but in the long run you will be doing perfectly. If you just can do one arm push ups 2 reps today, don't be upset. Try and try again.

The 4 steps are what I used to do one arm push ups perfectly. It's look hard and need more struggle. But, if you can reach your goals, you can see the best results.
