What Muscles Worked Doing Push Ups?

Push up is the one of sport that very familiar, simple, basic and popular. Almost all sports  like badminton, basketball, boxing, karate, football and so on using push up workout to strenghten physical and endurance. Absolutely, push up is very effective to build muscles, make you stronger and increase your endurance. 

The main topic in this post is: What muscles target used doing push ups? So, the answer is: Almost all your muscles be trained when you doing push ups, escpecially your upper body. Push up is movement that push your body and you must repeat your movement again. 

Push-up position (as shown in the picture above) is to put your hands shoulder width apart and legs straight. Then, do the pushing motion. Push up train many muscles of the body. Here are the trained muscles when you doing push ups:

Arm muscle. Push up trained your arm significantly, because the concentration of push up is in the arm exactly. So, if you doing routine push ups workout, your arm muscles will be formed and the stronger.  That's why all the sport always include push ups exercise in the exercise menu.

Shoulder muscle. Push ups are also train the shoulder because the push up movement take part moving the shoulder. Moreover, push ups can be varied with different movements that focused on shoulder muscle, such as typewriter push ups. 

Trapezius (neck muscle). Push up train your trapezius, although not significantly increase the shoulder size, because trapz can be build quickly with dumbell or barbell. But push ups can make your trapz more prominent. Try to pay attention to people who often doing push up, his / her neck muscles will also be formed. 

Tricep and bicep. Push up clearly train your bicep and tricep. This is because the movement of the push up that focuses on arms. So, push up can make the bicep and tricep contraction when you doing push up.

Chest. Push up is one of exercise that very effective to build your chest, especially upper chest. There are many push up variations like diamond push up that give you more effect to build and make your chest look ripped. 

Abdominal. Although the pushs up effect was not as big as sit ups, push-ups exercise also affect your abdominal. This is because when you doing the push ups motion, abdominal muscles go to work to press the body down, so that push ups can affect the contraction of the abdominal muscles.

Push Up Strengthen Stamina and Train All Upper Body

Push up is bodyweight workout that really train your endurance.  That is why the sport has always been a push up the main menu on all sports that require athletes to have excellent physical stamina.

Due to push up trained endurance, push up workout certainly have affected to your stamina. If you want to have good stamina, you must train your endurance. Endurance can be trained, one of them, with a lot of repetition of push ups. In the other hand, push up train all your upper body. So, try to doing push up routine and feel the benefits.
